    What about exploring the most beautiful trails of Ylläs by running?

    1) Warm Up: The best trails around Äkäslompolo

     

    The forests around the village Äkäslompolo are full of marked and unmarked beautiful trails. This short run takes you to some of our own favourites. We mainly run – it’s called trail running, you know – but there will be time to take a breath and enjoy the surrounding nature. We always form the groups according to the physical condition of the participants so don’t you worry, there will be a suitable group for you. Given this, this Warm Up suits trail running newcomers as well as more experienced runners looking for some local tips and a stress-free run.

     

    Trip includes: A local guide, small snacks, transportation from Jounin Kauppa and back.

    You need: Suitable running clothing and trail running shoes (normal running shoes are ok on dry days)

    Duration & Distance: ca. 1,5 h & 10 km (distance depending on the group)

    2) The Hidden Trails: A longer trip to the less-known trails of the Pallas-Ylläs National Park

     

    No matter how high the season is or how busy the main trails become, there are always tranquil, small trails available to the one who knows where to look for. On this longer half-day trip we fly through the varying terrain free like birds. Or then we take an easier pace to observe the one-of-a-kind nature. Or a bit of both, you decide.

    You need: Suitable running clothing, including warm clothes for breaks, trail running shoes, water and energy in a suitable backpack or running vest.

    3) Run the Nightless Night

     

    If you want a run to remember, this is it. A two-hour running excursion to the bright summer night or to a slightly darkening late summer evening is worth staying up late, for sure. There is nothing like the atmosphere in the quiet National Park that is about to fall asleep for a few hours. The goal is not to run like there is no tomorrow but to enjoy the unique moment by feet, partly running but also leaving plenty of time to breathe in the moment.
