    Day 1-2 – Welcome to Lapland & warm-up hike

Day 1: Meeting & welcome dinner in Äkäslompolo

The trip officially starts in Äkäslompolo at 17:00. We accommodate the group in cabin(s) and head out to the village for a simple restaurant dinner together. (Airport transfers available as an additional service, see Pricing).

Day 2: Hike in the southern part of Pallas-Ylläs National Park

After the first night in Äkäslompolo, we head out to the (off-)trails close to the village in the southern end of the national park. The exact route is chosen based on the group but there are beautiful, varying forest, swamp, lake, stream and fjell sceneries as well as cozy wilderness cafés in the area.

    Hike duration: 4-6 h / 8-15 km / 300-600 m of climbing

Self-paid lunch possibility at a wilderness café.

Day 3: Hike in the central part of Pallas-Ylläs National Park (Pallas)

We head more North, towards Pallas in the centre of the national park. Depending on the conditions and the group we may hike up to the top of the area (where the torch of Helsinki Olympics in 1952 was lit) or stay in lower altitudes and admire the varying taiga forests. After the hike, we drive 2,5h to Kilpisjärvi and accommodate ourselves in cabin in this remote village.

    Hike duration: 3-5 h / 5-10 km / 300-500 m of climbing

Self-paid lunch possibility at the traditional Pallas Hotel

Day 4: Hike in Kilpisjärvi, Malla Nature Reserve & three-nation cairn

The nature in Kilpisjärvi is very unique. The winters are cold and the climate is rather continental although the Atlantic is just some 50 km away. The bedrock is also very different from anywhere else in Finland resulting in majestic rock walls on the sides of the fells as well as unique fauna.

If the weather allows, we hop onto a boat that takes us across the lake Kilpisjärvi, close to the crossing of three nations, Finland, Sweden and Norway. After dancing around the three countries, we’ll hike through the Malla Nature Reserve, a strictly protected, unique area.

    Hike duration: around 7h / 13 km / 300 m of climbing

Day 5: Hike in Kilpisjärvi / Fell Saana

Before driving down to Norway, we aim at topping the easiest-accessible, but one of the most beautiful, 1000er of Finland, fell Saana. The climb is tough, although the trail is well maintained and technically easy, but the views will compensate the sweat.

    Hike duration: around 4h / 8 km / 500 m of climbing

After the Saana hike, we have a chance to eat lunch in Kilpisjärvi before hopping into the car and driving to Norway and the Lyngen peninsula to our cabin for the last two nights.

Day 6: Long Mountain Hike in Lyngen area

The Norwegian weather may be unpredictable, but if just possible we aim at reaching one of the mountain tops of the world-famous freeride and climbing area, Lyngen peninsula. Alternatively, we enjoy some of the lush valley hikes of the area. As a hiking destination, Lyngen is highly underrated, so be ready for awesome views with less people than in many other places in Northern Norway! On this day there are no lunch options along the route.

Hike duration: around 6-8h, 10+ km, 600-1000m of climbing

Day 7: The Final Half Day Hike by the Fjords

After the tough day on the day before, on our last hiking day we take it relatively easy: On our morning hike we enjoy the fjord views and mountain sights for the last time.

The trip officially ends in Lyngen area after the morning hike at around 12:00, but the following transfer options are included:

    • Transfer to Tromso city or airport (1-2 h)
    • Transfer to Kilpisjärvi (1-2h)
    • Transfer to Muonio, Levi, Kittilä or Äkäslompolo (4-5h)
    • Please let us know where you'd like to end your trip so we can plan accordingly
