Just drop us a message if you are even a tiny bit wondering whether to join or not!
Crossing Lapland is a unique, all-inclusive, guided one-week trip where the participants get to experience some of the best areas and activities of all three Lappish countries.
You are fine with a normal physical condition but be mentally prepared for an adventure!
Crossing Lapland starts from Äkäslompolo, in Finnish Lapland, where we hop onto snowmobiles for two days, heading through endless forests and swamp areas to Sweden. On day 3, we switch snowmobiles to husky sleds, embarking on an overnight tour with these Arctic superheroes. We stay a night in Kiruna, Sweden, enjoy the magnificient Abisko National Park on snowshoes and head by minivans towards Norway and the dramatic fjord views, a deep-sea fishing trip und ultimately attending a whale safari at the "end of the world", on the island of Andoya.
This is a group tour, where the nights are spent in varying accommodations from twin rooms to cabins shared by the whole group.

Days 1-3 - Snowmobiling: Äkäslompolo (FI) to Kangos (SE)
Two per snowmobile, we head out from Äkäslompolo to the tracks towards Sweden. On the first day we drive around 50-70 km on usually well-amintained trails, in beautiful, rolling forest and swamp terrain. The night is spent in a traditional Finnish cabin, obviously equipped with a sauna.
The second day is a full day of snowmobiling. We cross the majestic Finnish-Swedish border river and continue all day to our place for the night, a completely isolated wilderness camp, where the cabins (and sauna) are heated by wood and all water has to be scooped from a fully-frozen lake. The driving distance of the day is 100+ km, taking anything between 5-12 hours depending on the trail conditions.
On day three, we have a very early morning to cover the final 50-70 km and make early enough to a Swedish husky lodge.
Days 3-4, Husky sledding: Kangos to Lainio (SE)
After arriving by snowmobiles at the husky lodge, we are granted a short pitstop before continuing in the wild again: a hearty, generous, fresh breakfast at the lodge.
Not to get used to indoors too much, the journey continues. Each participant gets a sled of their own, pulled by four furry friends that are eager to run several dozens of kilometres. Empty trails, beatiful river valley views and snowy landscapes fill the rest of the day before reaching our place for the night. We all together take care of the dogs and their sleds first, after which is our turn to enjoy dinner in the wilderness cabin.
The following morning the first thing to do is to make sure the dogs are ready for the day's challenges. Only after that it's our turn to enjoy the breakfast and prepare ourselves for the second half of the husky tour - and at the same time the last part of the wilderness part of the whole trip.
Days 4-5, Kiruna & Abisko
After arriving at the end point of the husky tour in the afternoon, we hop on to our vans and drive to the town of Kiruna in Northern Sweden where we take our time to relax after the intesive, adventure-filled wilderness days: a great little spa is waiting for us at Camp Ripan and a delicious three-course dinner is served at their restaurant.
In the morning of day five, we pack our bags and drive to one of the greatest classics of Swedish outdoor life: Abisko National Park. We put snowshoes on and go for a relaxing, yet beautiful hike between the high fjells on the National Park.
In the evening we drive a longer section to Norway, taking stops to admire the scenic views along the roads. The night is spent in a hotel right at the waterfront.
Day 6, Deep-sea fishing & time together
We continue on the coastal roads of Northern Norway, where more and more dramatic landscapes open up after each turn. By mid-day we reach our stay for the last two nights: The modern fisherman cabins at the island of Andoya, far up in the North which is one of the best places in the world to spot Northern Lights.
Before the night falls, though, we hop on to a fishing boat with a local captain, in the hopes for catching our own dinner: cods are a very delicious, and likely, catch here although not guaranteed. In any case, we cook together at the accommodation and spend a relaxing evening together.
Days 7-8: Whale safari & returning home
The highlight of the last complete day is a whale safari! The tip of the island is so far out in the ocean so that there are whales here all year round. This time of the year sperm whales are the most likely ones but other species may also hang around. Please note, however, that due to indeed being so far out, it's possible that winds and high waves prevent us from going out. In this unfortunate case there is a replacement programme for the final day: for example a moose safari, arctic surfing or space centre visits. The day, and the whole trip, is finalized with a delicious dinner in a local restaurant.
On day 8, a Thursday again, it's time to say goodbye to the group of the week and travel back home - or continue your vacation on your own. We can either bring you back all the way to Äkäslompolo or we can drop you off at Narvik/Evenes airport on the way. Other alternatives can be discussed case by case.
